Steven has extensive experience in real estate and title insurance law, regulatory compliance, and creditors’ rights. Specifically, Steven’s practice involves the representation of financial institutions, mortgage servicers, investors, and business owners in complex real estate disputes. Furthermore, Steven has represented financial institutions, business owners, and private equity funds in a variety of commercial real estate transactions ranging from leases on office space and retail space, long-term easements on farm land, and the purchase of portfolios containing telecommunications assets. His experience includes representing clients in negotiations with the four largest telecommunications carriers, as well as private landlords, municipalities, school districts and universities, the Department of the Army, and the Bureau of Land Management.
Additionally, Steven’s practice includes consulting with clients and internally on matters of regulatory compliance. Steven credits his background in Management Information Systems for his ability to develop and implement systemic solutions to satisfy complex regulatory undertakings. To that end, Steven has provided advice and helped develop systems to ensure compliance with the requirements of government agencies and GSEs, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, HUD, FHA, VA, and the USDA.
Prior to joining Noonan & Lieberman, Steven was the managing partner of Weiss McClelland LLC, a firm that focused on creditor’s rights. He also worked as the law clerk to the Chief Justice of the Illinois Court of Claims.
